Description

In this premium video, Outdoor Photography Guide’s David Johnston discusses wildlife photography settings.

To gauge the speed and movement of the animal, you need a fast shutter speed, 1/250th to 1/1000th second for birds. With aperture, you want background blurring, at least f 5.6 with a telephoto lens. Distance between subject and background causes blurring. As for ISO, your setting can be as high as 1600 with little image noise. Set your camera to continuous autofocus and high frame rate to lock on and track the moving animal.

This all could mean you need more gear. MPB can help. MPB is the largest global platform to buy, sell and trade used camera and video gear. You can trade gear you are not using and get about one third of the price of new gear. MPB has served over 625,000 customers, recirculating over 500,000 products annually.
