I'm here in the beautiful mountains of Colorado at the peak of autumn color to show you how to make great mountain photographs. And I love photographing the mountains themselves but I have learned that when you're out there, there's more to the mountains than just the mountains. The mountains make a great subject, no doubt about it, and that's the main draw. But when I'm there, I like to find other scenes, as well. I like to find more intimate scenes such as waterfalls and streams and small brooks that you find in the mountain.
I can't say enough great things about the mountains. They're majestic, they're challenging, they're unpredictable, but above all they're beautiful and wonderful places to make great photos. So this beautiful scene just caught my eye. Looked like the perfect opportunity, I couldn't pass it up, I had to stop. So I'm gonna frame this tight.
I like there's a little bit of highlight on the lake back there. So I'm gonna frame the scene with the fall color and I think that's it. That's a good composition right there. I love what I do. This is beautiful.
Even when conditions don't line up perfectly I'm still having the time of my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything. So I'm gonna be out there and I encourage you, too. As much time as you can, get out there. Chase the light, just do whatever you can to be there so when it does happen when the magic happens, and you're in place, it's gonna go on for you, and you're gonna get a great shot.
Couldn't agree more, the Mountains are the best! Very inspiring Ian. God Bless your journeys, always.
