Description

In this premium video, Outdoor Photography Guide’s David Johnston demonstrates how to make exact editing masks.

When you capture a scene with multiple colors, those colors are loaded with light and dark luminance values. In digital photography, every pixel includes hue, saturation and luminance. In Lightroom’s color module, you can adjust each of these three values. To isolate a color, you select the Color Range module, using the eye dropper tool, which allows you to place a mask over your chosen color. Then, you employ the tool sliders to adjust tone and saturation. David shows you the process in the blues of his autumn trees image.

For further adjustments, he creates a mask that includes the entire image. With the luminance range sliders, he adjusts the color values. This entire editing process heightens colors and adds a three dimensional appearance to an image.
