Description

In this premium video, Outdoor Photography Guide’s David Johnston discusses Lightroom’s HDR (High Dynamic Range), which should help you improve your photography. You will find the HDR feature in the Develop module.

Using his image of an elephant in the wild, David first employs all the normal edits to improve the photograph – contrast, clarity, highlights and shadows. The result is good but not great. Starting over with the original elephant image, he turns to the HDR feature, which will affect the histogram and stretch the dynamic range into new areas. By clicking on HDR, he observes a noticeable improvement in his image including the histogram.

While still in the HDR mode, David makes further editing adjustments such as exposure, contrast, blacks and whites. He clicks on Visualize HDR, which shows where he made the edits.
