Cape Coral

This session follows the photographers to Cape Coral, where the burrowing owl calls its home. For a unique photo opportunity, make sure to keep your eyes toward the ground.

Further down the Florida Gulf Coast is Cape Coral. Within Cape Coral, the burrowing owl calls the area home. Now, unlike other owls that might build nests in trees, barns, or other elevated areas, the burrowing owl builds its nest in the ground. This makes for a unique photo opportunity while also making for an interesting bird watching experience. The birds are a common scene within Cape Coral, although many of the nests are located on private property.

Camera placement is vital when it comes to capturing the best images close to the ground. With little visual separation between the foreground and background, understanding how to set up your shot is important.
