From high on a cliff, Steve frames the river as it bends beyond, creating a focal point far away. To lead the eye into the composition, he uses a clump of sagebrush as foreground on the edge of the canyon rim. “I call this a backwards image,” Steve explains. For richer colors, he adds a color combo filter, then shoots multiple exposures for selection in post-processing.
