Abstract Photos From Idea to Creation
David JohnstonDescription
The creative process involves the steps from imagination all the way to the creation of an abstract image. In this premium video, Outdoor Photography Guide’s David Johnston creates an abstract photo in his editing suite. He starts with his image of rippled peaks and tiny seashells on a sandy beach. The scene reminds him of mountain peaks.
Using Lightroom, David jacks up the contrast, increases the highlights and decreases the shadows, which enhances the peaks. After converting the image to black and white, he uses sliders to play around with the values in the Black & White color mix. He finishes the editing by dropping the blue primary value. Finally, he uses the brush tool to paint the peaks, and then brings up Exposure
Result? The photograph now looks like an abstract of a mountain scene. The process? From idea to creation.
