What has most helped my photographs to capture emotion (when I succeed in doing so) is to have the image tell a story and not merely capture a static scene. What is in the frame and what is hinted at that falls outside of it? Does the scene capture a time of day that is imbued with movement (a sun rising, a sun or moon setting, a breeze blowing on trees, flowers, someone's clothing, or a body of water flowing)? Also, when people or animals are involved, can a clearly capture their eye or eyes?
